Last week we were at the SMM Hamburg, the most important fair in the world about maritime industry.
We could attend conferences, visit the stands of the different exhibitors and exchange ideas and experiences with other professionals in the sector. According to the report published by the organization of the SMM Hamburg, the fair brought together around 50,000 visitors from more than 120 countries with a total of 2,289 exhibitors from 69 different countries.
As the slogan “SMMart Shipping Trends” promised, we find digitalisation and industry 4.0. The use of simulators or virtual reality glasses by the exhibitors, the presentation of new technologies such as the ABB Marine Pilot Control , a dynamic positioning system and events such as the successful Maritime 3D Printing Show Area, demonstrated that the digital revolution is a reality in the maritime sector.
In addition to all the novelties, the SMM Hamburg offered stands focused on the entire value chain of the maritime industry: lubricating oil filters, radar systems, boat engines, interior design for boats… The visitors could enjoy countless of options.
Another key aspect that we encountered at the SMM Hamburg was the protection of the environment and the development of sustainable technologies Green Shipping. We had the privilege of attending Decarbonization, a conference in debate format that spoke about the challenges involved in the Paris 2030 agreement for the maritime sector, fuel alternatives and how companies deal with this situation.
In the report of the SMM Hamburg, this edition is declared as a resounding success, for organizers, exhibitors and visitors and this is what we have experienced. The next edition of SMM Hamburg will be held from September 8th to 11th, in 2020 and, from Acebron Group, we hope to attend.
Meanwhile, we are going back to Hamburg this month to attend the Wind Energy Hamburg. This time, to know and discover new trends in the wind sector.
